MGSC star Cara J (Year 9) won 2 gold medals, 1 silver and a fourth place at the 2017 State Swimming carnival. Cara won the 200m freestyle and 50m backstroke, she came second in the 50m freestyle and fourth in the 50m butterfly. Cara also competed in 7 events at the Australian National Swimming Championships last week and she came 2nd in the 4x50m freestyle relay. Congratulations on a fantastic swimming season Cara, enjoy a well deserved break. Go Mentone!

Mentone Girl's had four students compete at the Australian Junior Athletics Championships in Sydney. Zoe C (Year 10) got silver in the Long Jump and silver in the Hammer Throw; Kisarna B (Year 10) got 7th in the javelin and 16th in the 800m; Emily R (Year 8) 6th in shot put, and Millie B (Year 9) competed in the 1500m.
Emily and Zoe are have also been selected in the Victorian team for the Australian Little Athletics Championships (ALACs) in late April. Emily is competing in the shot put, discus and javelin. Zoe in the heptathlon and relay. Mentone Girls' SC Cara J (Year 9) is competing in the 2017 Georgina Hope Foundation Australian Age Swimming Championships in Brisbane from April 16th to 23rd.Cara is competing in the 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle, 100m backstroke and 200m backstroke plus will be part of three freestyle relay teams (14&u 4 x 50m, 16&u 4 x 100m & 18&u 4 x 100m). We wish Cara the best of luck in her busy schedule at Nationals!
